Frequently Asked Questions

Q. Why should I choose

Get Fit with Davina is a complete weight loss and fitness programme for life.

We've taken the latest in metabolic science to create a nutrition programme that enables our users to lose weight, while eating nutrient-dense foods that will help them feel great and remain full. Each day users are given a Calorie Plus Credit (CPC) allocation to use over five meals. The unique scoring system is based upon the GL/GI nature of the foods as well as the nutritional value of the food and the number of calories they contain.

Our smart algorithms adjust workouts to individual fitness level, increasing difficulty over time and ensuring a balanced regime, focusing on strength, cardio, and the whole body. Just seven minutes each, they can be done anywhere, as long as you have a tablet or phone and internet access.

We help with motivation too. Our social forum is buzzing with tips, advice, inspiration, and success stories. And Davina’s on hand for the weekly weigh in, giving words of congratulations for good weeks and encouragement for less-than-successful weeks.

Learning what good fuel for the body is and ingraining healthy habits is key to long term weight loss success. We help our users identify and change unhealthy behaviour, and reinforce healthy behaviour with feedback at the end of each week as part of the 5-week programme.

A day on the programme typically involves 3 workouts and 5 meals. Each meal can be one of the over 200 delicious recipes from the site, an item from our Out and About Food guide– a curated list of meals from high street outlets that fit within our nutrition principles - or a meal put together by the user from our list of healthy ingredients. The total of the meals’ CPC scores should stay within the user’s CPC allocation for the day; this allocation is personalised to each user and is based on their BMR and activity level. Q. How many workouts should I do a day or a week?

We try to encourage our users to workout 3 times a day (each workout is 7 minutes long), with 2 rest days per week, as we've discovered that this produces great results. If you can't do that many in a day, that's completely fine. Just do as many as you can. If you want to do more, the system will accommodate that as well.

Q. Can I substitute workouts from the Davina's DVD?

Yes, simply click the “swap for DVD workout” button.

Q. How can I plan my workouts?

You will be set a target number of workouts to do in a day. If you aren't up to doing them, you can make the day a rest day or do fewer workouts. To keep to your weekly target, you'll need to catch up later in the week.

Q. What is the equipment required to do the workouts?

We recommend using dumbbells (their weight will depend on your level of fitness). We recommend you use a room big enough to enable you to workout without stumbling onto furniture or other objects. Some of the workouts will require you to lie down on the floor, so a carpet or a mat may come handy. We recommend that you keep a water bottle handy – as it is very important to hydrate when you work out!

Q. What should I wear to do the workouts?

You should wear comfortable breathable clothing and trainers that will enable you to move around freely. We recommend you do not work out barefoot.

Q. What are CPCs? How are they different from calories?

Basically, this is your daily "budget" to “spend” on food and drinks - and from it you need to make sure you get 3 meals and two snacks a day. Your daily allowance is calculated based on your personal information. The scoring system is based upon the GL/GI nature of the foods as well as the nutritional value of the food together with their overall calorie position. You’ll get a range for each meal (rather than a fixed number) – allowing for more flexibility and giving you full control over your nutrition. Your daily CPC allocation is closely tuned to your personal metabolism and will change as you change.

Q. What is the CPC slider?

Our unique handy Slider enables you to enter foods beyond the recipes and ingredients already on the site – you learn to estimate the CPC values of foods by comparing meals with the recipes and ingredients on the site.

Q. Can I choose my own meals?

Certainly! We have got lots of delicious and healthy recipes to appeal to any taste, an extensive list of healthy ingredients for you to choose and cook from, and also a handy “Out-and-About” section, for healthy food on the go.

Q. Will I feel hungry?

Nope. With three meals and two snacks a day there is little chance of that! Our meals are healthy and filling, with just the right values of GI/GL to keep you fuller – longer. And if you need that little something extra - a cheeky glass of wine or that little piece of chocolate - there is room for that, too!

Q. Shouldn’t I be eating low fat and “diet” foods?

We believe in real food, that is healthy and nutritious. If you are logging meals which are not included on the plan, the main thing to keep in mind is the sugar content. The regime aims to wean you off sugary foods that may be low in fat or calories but create blood sugar lows that cause cravings which ultimately make you more hungry. Low fat products often contain a lot of sugar to make them taste nice. We try to encourage the use of natural ingredients, as many products contain a lot of 'mystery' ingredients or hidden sugar. All ingredients on have been carefully selected for their nutritional value, and crucially their GI/GL - glycemic index and glycemic load. GI/GL measures the sugar content of the food and its effect on our bodies. An apple and a cookie have the same number of calories, but one is nutritious and filling, and the other is not - not all calories are equal. We give you a daily allowance of Calorie Plus Credits to ensure a balanced diet that keeps your blood sugars stable without cravings across the day and to ultimately help you lose weight - and most importantly, keep it off.

Q. How much weight will I lose every week?

It is not possible to say. Each of us is a different person, with a different basal metabolic rate. A person with more to lose will do so faster than a person with only a couple of lbs. to lose. However, if you follow our nutritional and workout programmes, you will lose weight.

Q. Do you have any vegetarian options?

We have plenty of recipes for vegetarians, all approved by the British Vegetarian Society.

Q. I’m gluten-free/dairy-free/have food allergies, is this programme suitable for me?

Get Fit with Davina does not currently have a specific plan for people suffering from food intolerances/allergies. It is something we are looking into for the future. This said, whilst the recipes on the service do not cater for specific diets, the rules of the nutrition plan can still be followed by simply selecting foods that are appropriate for you when creating your own meals.

Q. What is Out and About food and how does it work?

Out and about food is a carefully curated list of healthy foods from high street outlets, with CPC values assigned.

Q. I’m breastfeeding, is this programme suitable for me?

Unfortunately, the nutrition plan on Get Fit with Davina has not been made with breastfeeding in mind as it is a calorie restricted diet and therefore, will not be suitable for you to partake in at present.

Q. Can I drink tea/coffee/alcohol?

Water is the healthiest option. You can drink water and green tea (unsweetened) freely. Coffee and tea are also allowed, but we recommend that you limit yourself to one cup a day. You are also allowed alcohol, but we recommend that you check the CPC value for your desired drink before consuming, and to also limit that as much as possible.

Q. Am I allowed any extras?

Of course. We all live a hectic life, and need the utmost flexibility. Rigidity in nutrition will only make you give up.We define the odd treat like a glass of wine or a bit of chocolate as an “extra”, and there is a section for you to track these. You can also use it to track drinks and water.

Q. What is the social section?

This great feature includes our forums - a place to share your opinions, tips, ideas, ask questions and get support from people who are on the same journey as you are. If you’re not acquainted with the concept - an Internet forum is a discussion area on a website. Members can post discussions and read and respond to posts by other forum members, thereby creating an online community. This is the place to share your experiences, and get great advice and support. It is only available to Get Fit with Davina users and is private to that community.

Q. Are there any guidelines for using it?

Of course! they’re all available here.
